We are probably the most copied derby parts supplier on the market (generally poorly copied, as well). Not a distinction I like, but until there is a way to control it, or a large body like Wecrash.com chooses to ban members who copy other’s research and design, it will probably continue. The copy will never be as good - because they don’t know where the details are merely important, and where they are critical. DO NOT BUY A COPY! Think I’m being an arrogant ass? Please read the next paragraph. It is easy for all of the johnny-come-lately copy artists to copy what we have already designed and tested. Every year, I get dozens of emails about Mopar engines, carb/dist protectors, and HEI’s. There is a market out there for those items, but do you see any for sale? Sure, you see promises that they are developing them, but what is really taking so long? I’ve built Mopar engines, I’ve worked at length on the Mopar HEI setup - but I keep waiting for someone to come out with a solution to the market demand first - and it won’t happen, because WE haven’t put the product out there to copy (I believe, as of 1-1-11, this is now available through someone who took the time to engineer it - GOOD FOR THEM - however, someone will soon copy them also). I’m also too busy with Chevy things to actively market any Chrysler items. Ask yourself why, when someone brags about how they have the best ability to cut costs and turnaround time on a copied distributor protector for Small Block Chevy (compared to G.A.S.), why don’t they have the same thing available for Mopar ? Answer- because they have no one to copy it from. Even worse, when they do produce one and send it out, they find out how many variables there are for each driver’s setup, and figure out making a generic one that is strong is difficult. Then they say, “Gee, that was easy to produce and quick to get on the market when I copied it, but not so easy when I have to design and research it.” THINK ABOUT IT, FOLKS! You’ll see this a fact of the demolition derby sport! Copies are generally not well engineered. |
